Presidential order advises goods imported from Hong Kong will become Chinese origin
On July 14th, President Donald Trump issued an executive order advising goods from Hong Kong will need to be marked “Made in China” and Section 301 duties and any antidumping and countervailing duties will apply where appropriate. Exact date has not yet been established.
China 301 List 1 – EXTENSIONS GRANTED
On July 9, 2020 the USTR (85 FR 41267) published a list of 12 tariff items whose exclusions will be extended until December 31, 2020. These will be effective for entries entered on or after July 9, 2020 and valid through December 31, 2020. HTS 9903.88.52 should be used when importing under these tariff numbers.
Modifications to China 301 List 4 HTS # Descriptions NEW EXCLUSIONS GRANTED
On July 10, 2020 the USTR (85 FR 41658) published a list of 61 tariff items whose exclusions will be extended until December 31, 2020. These will be effective for entries entered on or after September 1, 2019 and valid through September 20, 2020. HTS 9903.88.51 should be used when importing under these tariff numbers. The Federal Register notice also contained 27 modifications to prior exclusions granted.
