June 11, 2024NOTICE OF CHINA EXCLUSIONS TO BE EXTENDED AND EXPIRED
A Federal Register notice is being issued regarding the 429 specific Section 301 exclusions as noted below. Please note it will take Customs a bit of time to program for this change to the exclusion expiration process. Western Overseas will make every effort to apply appropriate exclusions as they become available.
233 Exclusions Expiring:
USTR will let about 233 exclusions (of the current 429 product specific exclusions) expire on June 14, 2024 (“to provide a transition period”).
- 102 are expiring due to nobody requesting an extension.
- Others will expire because importers indicated no intent or have made little effort to shift out of China.
- Others will expire because of opposition to the exclusion based upon domestic or 3rd country production.
The full list of expiring exclusions are in Annex D of the Federal Register FR notice.
196 Exclusions Extended:
USTR is extending the 196 exclusions listed in Annex C through May 31, 2025, for this reason: extending these exclusions will support efforts to shift sourcing out of China, or provide additional time where, despite efforts to source products from alternative sources, availability of the product outside of China remains limited.
The full list of extended exclusions are in Annex C of the Federal Register FR notice.
