June 2, 2021Port Congestion Update 06/04/2021
June 7, 2021Mainland China Port of Yantian Impacted by Covid Outbreak
Yantian port operations located in the Greater China Area are currently experiencing low productivity due to a COVID-19 breakout. The port has implemented disinfection and quarantine measures to contain and avoid the spread of COVID-19.
Congestion is anticipated with vessel delays reaching up to 7-8 days. While the main berth of the port terminal is experiencing a lower efficiency rate, the western area of the terminal has been suspended until further notice.
From May 31st – June 6th, the container yard will only be available three days prior to a vessel’s estimated time of arrival and only after an advanced truck reservation is made and confirmed by the terminal to access and laden a container (gate-in).
Terminal Safety has been implemented at the Port of Shekou that includes services at Chiwan Container Terminal, Mawan Container Terminal, and Shekou Container Terminal. Vessels will be diverted from the Port of Yantian and Shekou to best protect schedule reliability.
Export empty pick-up at Yantian remains at normal operations, with the exception of Greeting Fortune Depot. However, 40 GP and 40 HC available empties have been negatively impacted by the vessel delays. Import empty returns at Port Yantian have been suspended and are being redirected to Port of Shekou.
Trucks into Yantian Terminal are required to have advanced reservations and export laden containers gate-in are subject to confirmation by the terminal.
