January 24, 2025TRUMP TO IMPOSE TARIFFS ON CANADA, MEXICO, AND CHINA
According to news reports, President Trump plans to follow through this Saturday, February 1st on imposing tariffs on an array of imported goods from Canada, Mexico, and China. At this time, it is not clear if these increases would take effect on February 1st or March 1st. We will have to wait until the Executive Order (EO) is issued to be certain of facts.
The White House has confirmed this afternoon that these tariffs will be in the amount of 25% duties on certain imports from Canada and Mexico. Chinese goods entering the U.S. will receive a 10% import tariff. The Trump administration cited China as a continued source of illicit fentanyl and has advised these tariffs will remain in place until the countries do more to stem the flow of both migrants and fentanyl over the U.S. Border.
