To All Customers, Partners and Friends
In view of the continuous spread of the Coronavirus the Chinese Government has extended the Chinese Lunar New Year holidays. Originally the holidays were to end on January 30 but the China State Council announced an official extension across the country until February 2nd.
Meanwhile several provincial Governments announced a further extension of the holidays until February 9, 2020. So far the provinces of
Guangdong (Shenzhen, Guangzhou),
Zhejiang (Ningbo)
Jiangsu (Shanghai)
Fujian (Xiamen and Fuzhou) as well as the municipality of
Chongqing
have taken these additional measures but we expect others to follow.
Enterprises involved in guaranteeing the operation of public utilities such as gas, water, power, communication are exempted, so are companies providing medical equipment and pharmaceuticals etc.
The extended holidays will effect production and shipping schedules and delays may be expected.
For any shipments scheduled to depart for China by airfreight it is highly advisable to check in advance whether airports and receiving offices in China are operational. It may be better to delay uplifting cargoes.
In another directive by the provincial governments schools at all levels, from Kindergarten to universities are not to resume classes until February 17.
We at Western Overseas wish to ensure the safety and health of our employees, as such we will strictly follow the directives of the government and allow our staff to work from home.
